- Fishing
Equipment Check
- One
of the most important features of successful fishing
is having clean, fully functional fishing tackle and
equipment. Let’s begin with rods and reels. These are
your most expensive tools and need to be maintained
regularly especially when demanding total performance.
All line guides should be checked with a Q-tip gently
twisted inside each eye. If the cotton wool catches
on any of the inner rings, they should...

- Why
Polarized ?
- Chances
are, every serious fisher-person south of Canada either
owns or has heard of these miracle shades that let you
see tens of feet into the fishs watery world.
They are known as polarized sunglasses and
have become more of a phenomenon than just a way to
block out the sun. For those of you who do own polarized
sunglasses, you know what a valuable resource they can
be. For those of you who dont, you are missing
out on a great tool to catch fish...

- A
Dream Come True
- To
the marine or auto mechanic, his tools are his lifeline.
Without using quality tools to get the job done, his
efforts become futile. In order to succeed in business,
he has to depend on those tools to hold up to the pressure
of daily, relentless use. For a professional bass angler,
his fishing rods are the tools by which he makes his
living. They too, must be dependable and hold up to

- Making
It Go
- Last
weekend I traveled to Wagoner, Oklahoma to practice
for an upcoming B.A.S.S. tournament in October at Fort
Gibson Lake. Since I had never been on Fort Gibson Lake,
I thought it would be good to spend the weekend familiarizing
myself with the lake and the area surrounding it. I
wanted to see where our tournament headquarters was,
where I would be staying for the six days I would be
at the tournament and check out the local eating joints...

- Ready….Set…..Go!!!
- Memorial
Day weekend came and went, as it always does but for
my family, things were a bit different this year. Usually,
we spend what most folks refer to as the beginning of
summer, with my father at his place on beautiful Lake
Quachita just out of Hot Springs, Arkansas. This year,
we were not so fortunate. My youngest daughter, Tatum,
had a Camp Fire outing planned with her group, so we
couldn’t make the trip. Although we were disappointed,
there was one thing about the trip I did not miss, wasted
time at the boat ramp. Let me explain...

- Where
Ya' Puttin' In ?
- Last
evening, my oldest daughter, Megan, and I went to a
friend's boathouse on Richland-Chambers reservoir to
try and catch a few crappie. We didn't catch a bunch
of fish, but we got a few. More importantly, we got
to spend some quality time together. After the fish
quit biting, we headed over to Oak Cove Marina for a
bite to eat. We ordered our usual favorites, a club
sandwich with fries for Megan, and tater tots for me.
As usual, the restaurant was packed with fishermen,
some with wives and girlfriends, others eating with
their fishing partners....
