 Hume began fishing with his father when he was growing up. He always had a special love for fishing and fishes almost every weekend. He is a retired Army Sergeant First Class, husband and father of two.
It was not until 1989 that he bought his first bassboat and started hitting lakes in North Carolina for crappie and brim mostly, but occasionally fished for bass. In 1991 Hume was bit by the “bass bug” and for the most part has fished exclusively for Largemouth Bass since then. He use to fish the lakes closest to him (Shearon Harris and Jordan) and post fishing reports on the Bass Fishing Home Page website for almost all his fishing trips. He received a large amount of emails asking questions relating to lakes, baits and fish activity. After several years of this he upgraded his boat and began tournament fishing. In 2001 he joined a large B.A.S.S. federated club called The Carolina Bassers of Harnett County and began fishing Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League Tournaments also. He will fish 13 to 15 Federation Tournaments and 5 BFLs in a year’s time. Hume has fished 2 BFL Regionals and finished 4th overall in the Co-Anglers points standings in the Piedmont Division in 2002. He has qualified and fished the Southern Regional in the North Carolina Federation several times also.
Hume is also a Pro Staff member for Culprit Lures. This was a perfect sponsorship for Hume; although he loves to fish a crankbait he will generally end up fishing with plastics. And with all the new products Culprit has to offer (Buzzbaits, Spinnerbaits and lots of new style plastics) this really rounds out his tackle collection well.
You will also find Hume giving seminars and tank demonstration at Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mountain stores in North Carolina and Virginia. Hume views this as a great opportunity to meet new people and talk fishing. These times are a great opportunity to promote products and get fresh ideas about products and techniques.
Hume is somewhat of a bass boat freak also. He loves to talk boats and motors, props and capabilities. Hume has been running Bullet boats with Mercury motors since 1998 and feels they are one of the top combos for fishing and performance. But he stays up on all makes ad models of boats and finds the advancements in boat technology very interesting.
On those rare occasions that Hume is not fishing or pre-fishing for a Tournament he still loves to get out on the water and you could find him almost anywhere. He runs to northern Alabama at least once a year to fish several lakes down there and always spending at least 5 days on wonderful Lake Guntersville. But fishes all over the state of North Carolina to include lakes such as Gaston, Kerr, Falls, Mayo, Hyco, High Rock, Tillery, Badin and just about any other lake that has a boat ramp.

Numerous top 5 and top 10 finishes in Carolina Bassers of Harnett County Tournaments during 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, 2006 and 2007 seasons. Qualified for NC Southern Federation Regional 2001, 2003 and 2004 and 2006. Qualified for the 2007 TBF North Carolina State Tournament
Participate in at numerous Casting Kids events each year and give numerous Seminars and tank demonstrations at Bass Pro Shops during Spring Classics, Gander Mountain Stores and various other times including local club meetings and a variety of other settings. The BPS stores included are locations at Myrtle Beach, SC, Hampton, VA and Concord, NC.
