A friend of mine was fishing with his buddy on the Upper Castaic on 11/7 and his pal landed this beautiful 13 lb. LMB.
He had a video clip of the catch and the expression on the guys face who caught the fish says it all.
Caught with live shad on light tackle. Fish was released.
Check out this video.......dang if that makes me want to grab my gear and burn rubber at every stoplight on my way to Castaic.
Good fishing to you guys, later............ geobass

Sick bass and great video... unfortunetely, in the moment, the anglers did not choose the best language to express their excitement. We get a lot of children who visit these boards, and we do have a policy about adult language and content. I had to remove the link to the video to avoid any problems with visitor and also our sponsors. Ask them if they have a version without sound! I'm sure you guys can understand why I had to remove it... Let's try to keep it clean in the future. Thanks, Brendan

Sorry about that Brendan..... I didn't get to hear the sound track myself until after it was posted. My computer at home didn't have the sound working.
I showed it to a friend on another PC at work and heard the track. I understand the language was a little over the top, the guy lost it in a moment of pure excitement.
I don't think the guy has a clip without the sound but I'll ask him.
But anyway for those interested, I was talking to my friend Russ who shot the clip and he told me that the guy caught the fish on 10 lb. P-Line Halo. Plus Russ told me the fish was weighed on his scale which read 13 pounds. Later when he got home he was checking out the scale and said it was on the light side when he tested it.
The fish was actually somewhat more than 13 pounds. I told him when I saw the video I was surpried by the weight reported. It looked like more than 13 to me when I first saw it.
Great fish anyway you look at it. And about using the live shad.... me personally probably wouldn't be fishing with live shad but as long as the guy caught the fish legally and released it, I'm cool with that.
Good fishing to ya, later............... geobass

Roboworm99!! Why waste your time with live shad when it's swimbait season?
The best I might be able to come up with is a screen capture of a still from the video.
I'll see what I can do.
Good fishing to you guys, later............. geobass

Hi Capt'n!! Well I'll tell ya what guys I think it has to do with the reel player you have installed on your computer.
The link I first viewed at home had no sound, that's the one I pasted into this thread at the begining. Like I said when I checked it out with a friend at work on a different machine, that's when I heard the soundtrack for the first time.
I am going to try to get a still photo of the catch.
Good fishing to you guys, later........ geobass

Hi,
Russ posted on another board that originally he posted the video with no audio because of content. He later changed it as a result of requests.
I will message him to try to get the other video.

If you guys can get a copy of the video without sound that would be cool, in the meantime I've got a copy of a still shot of the fish I will try to add.
This is just awesome.... a real Castaic hog if ever there was one. Man when I see my friends getting into stuff like this I get so juiced. And when ya think about it (I don't want to jinx the guy) but this could be one of those fish of a lifetime shots.
Just makes the hair stand up on my arms looking at it. Man it's great to live near Castaic.... one of the premiere bass fishing lakes in the whole country practically right in my back yard.
This is a spectacular LMB. Just awesome!!!! Look at the massive gut on her. She sure has been chowing down for winter on something.

That is just awesome. That bass is just amazing. I would love to have a chance for something that big. Geo, you should post that photo in the members gallery.
