whats the deal with fluorcarbon and why should i use the stuff. how does it hold up and perform compared to the other lines out there?

Good question, my answer is this. Flurocarbon line is nearly invisible below the water surface, which makes it a great choice for worm/jig fishing and crankbaits. I now use fluro 100% of the time when fishing deepwater (ledges, drops). The only times I dont use fluro is flippin in heavy cover and with topwater baits. The reasons are I want a heavier more abrasion resistant line in cover, usually braid and fluro sinks, making it not a great choice for topwaters. Overall I have found I get more bites using fluro, and it is very durable. You have to be careful and not buy cheaper fluro, I have had great luck with Seaguar, BPS and Sunline. Hope this helps.

Or if you are limited on your rods and you rig with Fluoro...you can use fly line floatant on the first 10-15 feet to help it ride higher in the water.

What you would want to do is go to the top of the boards. Then select search (top right). Then select "All Forums". on right side in the "Keyword Search Term" type in your search criteria. In this case type in Flouro. Under that you have an option wether you want the search in the title or body. Hit go and you will have access to the desired posts. If you get lost I will do a screen shoot step by step for you.

I'll have to say I was not a fan of Flurocarbon line. I just never liked the stuff. I am a big fan of braid. But I have been using flurocarbon leader material with my braided line and I have changed my mind. I feel my catch rates have gone up. I tie on about a 4ft leader of flurocarbon leader (you must get flurocarbon leader for it to work right or you will break off everytime you set the hook) and go fishing. The sensitivity of braid and the invisability of fluro what a combination.

I use the flouro and it works better for me. I'd like to try braid, i hear great things about it, but i like the low visibility of flouro.

I'm like MoFish, I use a braided line 8 pound test with a 3 foot 6 pound flouro leader for drop shot fishing and it really works great! Well worth the try, I use all types no real brand that I use, but Seagar and Pline seems to work the best for me.. Heck I even use it for trout fishing and our bites have doubled, you can just feel everything and when you match it with a really good sensitive rod WOW the lightest bite feels like someone smacked you in the arm!
