Guys I am much nervous today. The sky where I live is full of smoke, ash is falling in my backyard, there are emergency sirens all over the place and the water tankers and rescue choppers are constantly flying over my house.

This is the current view from my backyard.

This is a link to the KTLA local news website with info and videos of the fire.
There are very high gusty winds today.. this whole situation is going down less than three miles from my house.
http://www.ktla.com/landing_topstories/?...724&feedID=1198

There are some pretty scary videos posted, especially the one under the big photo on the top right showing how fast the fire is moving with the gale winds.

Check out the link to the map.. my house is exactly where the 118 and the 405 intersect near the red triangle at the bottom of the map.

Many homes have already been destroyed and thousands have been evacuated.

If (God forbid) the winds change direction towards my house the fire could be where I'm at in less than fifteen minutes. So far there have been no evacuation orders in my immediate neighborhood.

I pray for all of those suffering from this right now. Guys I tell ya this is some scary situation. A friend of min had his house burned to the ground last month in the Chatsworth fire.

I'm also praying real hard that this does not come any closer to my house.

The 405 freeway is closed so needles to say I won't be able to do any fishing at Castaic today.

Ultra nervous in LA............. geobass

I didn't see this post and was asking on the other. Hang in there! I hope you get through this event unscathed. Grab those photo albums and keep them handy in case you have to get out quick. Best of luck,
Frank

Thanks ukey28, we are keeping a close eye on the situation as it develops.

The fire seems to have worsened during the day and come closer. The winds have died down some but I heard on the news that it has spread and they only have it 10% contained at the moment.

The other picture I showed I took from my backyard this morning. This photo is a view of the front of my house taken around 4:30 PM.

It is nerve wracking to be so close to this fire. My neighbor across the street was spraying down the roof of his house. I haven't done that yet myself but I've got my hoses ready if that becomes necessary.

My daughter told me that there have been evacuations in Granada Hills which is right next to Mission Hills where I live.

Hopefully the wind won't be so strong tonight and they will be able to get a handle on it.

Still nervous in LA............. geobass

Be safe my friend...all is good in the hood for me...

If you have sprinklers geo, get them set up on the roof and the perimeter of your house. Keep your fences wet and the eves of the house and move all combustible items away from the house...

Stay safe and hope everything works out for you. The wind in Castaic has stopped blowing and it's very calm right now @ 8:30PM

Hey Geo,

We haven't heard back from you in two days... everything alright? Those fires are way too close for comfort...

Thanks for thinking of me guys!! Yes I'm glad to say we are OK.

The fires are still burning but not so close to my house now.

From what I've seen on the news it has been totally devastating is some areas.

800 plus homes destroyed over 25,000 people evacuated.

Thank God me and my family have been spared.

The entire city of Los Angeles was covered in smoke yesterday. I was less than a mile away from downtown and couldn't see the skyline!!!

Also it is very irritating to the lungs and eyes to have this much smoke in the air for so long. I can feel a burning sensation when I breath and my eyes have been watering a lot.

Later............ geobass

You know Geo, I was going to comment about the smoke factor... that cannot be good for your health breathing in all that [censored]. Perhaps you'll need to set up camp at the Lagoon for a few weeks and just focus on breathing in some clean air while fishing? lol
