I have Two girls 14teen and 9 year old. My younger daughter is obsessed with fishing. We watched the classic together over the wknd. When she saw Kim her eyes blew up she got so exited. I'm taking her to Bass Pro Shops in Auburn NY for her birthday in 2 weeks at her request. When we fish together she does her own thing has her own tackle and rods. Some days she out fishes me dammit.

It will be memory she will never forget...my now 6 year old wants to go to Bass Pro Shops all the time...of course, ours isn't to close by, but we go to the one in vegas and visit the inlaws...ya she has her own tackle as well...

I'm on the fence overall about women being in the classic. Better yet, how they "qualify" for it. in this case it wasn't Kim's fault and I'm glad she put some fish in the boat and placed ahead of a few men. I think overall it will help the sport with recognition and inspire more young woman to follow their dreams...

your right qualifying is the major factor here, if they can make some changes on how they qualify, which by the way i really don't know how Kim did, all I know is that she was angler of the year for there tournaments. I did enjoy seeing a few anglers below her in the standings. One of them with his own show you know who I'm talking about, but then again Byran fishes allot of team tournaments with his fiance so I don't think it bothered him to much. The importance I guess is like my daughter and yours get to see a women doing the same thin we do. I always tell my children sky's the limit go for it.

Did you see what some of the guys said? To me I don't care if a monkey qualified for a tournament. It's just another person you have to beat. I think some of those guys just don't want to be beat by a girl. The samething happened in dragracing. When a women beats a guy it's a ego buster. I hope 2 women get in next year.

It doesn't bother me, she represents a different arm of Bass Fishing. I think the collegiate individual champ should go too!

I totally agree. As long as she is not worried about delaying a tournament because it is to rough and she might chip a nail. I think it is a real cool thing as long as they qualify through the channels to enter the tournament. There are no handicaps and as long as that is enforced power to all. She did the right path and deserved to be in the classic. Hopefully if she gets to fish it again she will not have the kind of pressure on her and she can put forth her best fishing days.

Copy that... as a father of two girls myself, I was glad to see Kim given the opportunity to compete...

By the way, "AnthonyF" what's up brother! Good to see that you've joined the site again. I don't think Frank and Nunzio picked up on who you are yet... I'm not posting your last name and I expect that when they figure it out, they will give you the same respect.

Anthony don't think you were around when My daughter fished her first tournament. She just turned 4 and caught this 2.2 pounder in the Long Island Bassmasters kids tournament.

Now at 8 yrs old I can't keep her away from fishing. She handles stripers too!!!!!!!! Hope all our daugthers make it to the classic one day. I know Makenna sure is going to try. (note the background. That is Big Nunz, my dad driving his Italian craft. See his mirror mounted to the windshield to see if he is getting any bites. Fishing is in our blood for sure!!!)

i love the fact that they let her fish in the classic,it was her dream and she earned it,i mean its bass fishing, not football.and about those anglers that cried about the way she earned her spot.she was the female angler of the year,anuff said. and i love 2 see girls fishing,my daughter is 2 and a half and cant wait 2 take her fishing,oh by the way i took my wife fishing the other day, tell me why the first time she ever went bass fishing in her life,i put a 4 inch senko on her line 2 keep it easy 4 her,15 mins after we get there she hooks into a five plus pounder,i couldnt believe it, i told her the fish could smell her perfume and wanted a closer look, lol

Hey guys, Took my little one out fishing today upstate NY. Delaware river region. All I told her was to fish slow and that she did. We caught 5 Largemouth my 3 where between 1 lb and 2 lbs She caught 2 whoppers man was I excited for her 4 1/2 & 3 1/2 she is good. 4" GRN PMP Fluke on drop shot and weight less.

Nunz I still cant figure out how to add the pic to the post damm it. I posted one of her fish in the photo gallery.
