Hi all,
Im new to the site and exited to be here. I'm living in Maine and its where I do the majority of my fishing. I do make it back to New York when I can to fish with family and friends. Small mouth fishing up here is fantastic. Truly unappreciated by the locals. Im looking forward to sharing my fishing with everyone and learning from you all as well.

Im also new to tournament fishing, and I love it. I would like to thank LIB for that. This past weekend I did the LIB Candlewood Open and also did Bantam last year. I have to say they have made my introduction into tournament fishing exiting and memorable. Great group of guys, learned alot at each event. Im looking forward to fishing in some open Tournaments here in Maine this year.

Welcome aboard Jason,
Long Island Bassmasters has a long history of starting quality fisherman on their way to success. It's a great place to start. Where are you in Maine? Anywhere near Unity College?? I've fished araound there the first week in May and it rivaled any fishing that I have experienced anywhere for Bass! Welcome again!

No, not far from unity college at all. Less than an hour. I live out near Bangor. Unity Pond, Pushaw Pond, Brewer Lake are just some of the outstanding, under fished, bass waters around here.

Hi Jason,

Welcome to the site... Glad to hear that you are enjoying tournament fishing... it can be a real challenge and a lot of fun.

What lakes do you fish up there in Maine?

Androscoggin, China and Brewer Lakes. Pushaw Pond is my one of my favorites though.

I've fished Lovejoy, and the river. Lovejoy was incredible! We fished another that we had to go through a campground to get into and it had a large stone reef in the center. Dark tannic water and HUGE Smallmouths! Can't remeber the name though. I had a friend that was a student at Unity and I went up fishing with him. I'll reach out to him and get the name of the other pond.

I have heard some stories about some huge largemouth that live in some of those Maine lakes... what's your take?

In my experience so far the smallies have been larger than the largemouths here in Maine. alot of the lakes here are rocky glacier lakes, with huge boulders throughout, but ive only been living up here for two years now so still exploring. It may be so. Its going to take me years more do test the waters in this state....there are so many bodies of water to fish on.

Wow, that sounds like it should be a fun place to fish. Considering the fight of the smallies.

I'm a smallie fanatic... Maine is on my list of paces to visit... just need to figure out where the better places to go are.

Brendan, I fished Pushaw Pond with Jason G. Which is really a lake not a pond why they call it a pond I don't know. I saw some pics Jason sent me of him and his wife with 4# to 6# smallies. I fished it with him 4th of July 2007 and we had a blast 3,4# all morning.

Around 9 to 10 hour drive, We spent a week me and the girls. The ride is nice going, but coming back sucked but it was worth it.
