Went out this morning tube fishing in the Lagoon. Caught this nice 5lb. L/M on a Curly Tailed Catfish Jig on 6lb. test line with my spinning rod & reel. Caught near rock spillway area in 68 degree murky water in 6'water.

Also took this shot of painted turtle near Paradise Cove in the reeds.

Very nice bass Ron!! And great photos.... nice shot of the Red-eared Slider.

I can see you were not far from my favorite spot. LOL

I will probably be hitting up the Lagoon later on this afternoon myself.

I'm planning a major spinner attack.

Later.......

You're right Geo as I looked for you at your spot. Lot's of people along the shore. Thanks for the slider info...he looked like the little pet turtles that I bought growing up, until they banned the sale of them due to some sort of disease that they carried. (back in Ohio)

That bass was the largest I've caught this Spring.

I went out today (Saturday) and got skunked, not even a bite. May go out on Sunday as I really enjoy fishing in this type of weather. If I see you I'll stop by and say Hi!

Hi Ron! I was out there Saturday afternoon till sundown and was only able to manage one bluegill. Funny thing is the little guy hit one of my 4" bass lures, the BPS minnow.

The bluegill was about nine inches long.

Weather was good though and it wasn't too windy. Water was 68 and air temp was 76. There were high clouds.

I did notice on my way in going over the bridge down in the SW corner in front of the spillway there were some trout pinned in the corner and some pretty good sized bass bird dogging them. One looked like an easy 10. They were in water less than 3 ft. deep.

I spent a lot of time trying out some new things. A guy at the shoreline told me that the lake had just been stocked with trout for the last time this year.

So when this batch of trout are gobbled up, the big boys will be on the chew for the artificial stuff again. I sure hope they don't mess up the bite again with another water treatment for the weeds around the swim beaches like they did last year. Often they do a blue stoning for the Fourth celebration too. We'll see.

But the Lagoon is the Lagoon and ya have to take the good along with the bad if you want to be fishing in the home of the monster largemouth.

I'm gonna be out at there again on Thursday morning from very early till around one. Maybe I'll see ya.

Later..............

Hey Geo...Was out today at 6:30AM. Had the Paradise Cove area restricted to walk-in only. Had a Sheriff/L.A.Police exhibition going on. Had to go up to Parking lot #10 and drag my float tube and equipment down to the lake. Very weedy up at that end of the lake. Didn't catch anything as it's was very shallow and the wind picked up early around 9:45AM and I decided to exit the lake. Went over to where you hang out to see if you were there and couldn't locate you.

Funny you should mention the trout at the SW end of the rocks by the road. I was talking to a guy in a kayak and he said he slipped past the buoys (into the area that your not suppose to be) and that he said he caught over 20 trout in that corner in about an 1/2 hour before the lifeguard boat came by and told him to exit the area. I wish I could cast that far. I've had luck throwing a 1/8oz Red Devil Spoon in that rocky area and catching bass. You have to reel pretty fast so that it doesn't get hung up on the rocks and slime but the bass go crazy as not too many people fish out in that area.

Have you ever thought about getting a float tube? Lots of fun and gives you a lot of mobility. Opens up the whole West side of the lake for you and don't have to contend with claiming a spot!

If I'm out at the lake on Thursday I'll try and track you down.
Good fishing
