I arrived at the lagoon at 6:15. We started fishing the drop shot and we weren't catching any fish. The first fish was finally caught by my brother at 8:00. After another couple hours, I still hadn't caught a fish so we moved to a new spot. At this spot I caught a fish on my second cast! It was a nice fish and was my personal best, until later! After catching this fish there was no action, so we moved again. At the new spot, my brother caught another bass within 5 minutes. It was smaller than his last fish, but still not bad. We spent a good amount of time at this spot, but didn't catch anything besides my brother's fish, so we moved again. We went back to our second spot, but didn't get anything there, so I moved once again. At this spot, my rig got stuck in the weeds, so I had to break my line. After breaking the line, I switched to a Texas rigged sweet beaver. After a while of trying this new soft plastic, I decided to switch back to the drop shot after tangling my line up. I only had a few more minutes before I was going to leave and I really wanted to get another fish! I cast the drop shot rig a couple more times and then felt a very light strike. I set the hook and reeled the fish in. It fought a lot, even though the strike was very light! I wouldn't have been able to feel the strike with my old rod, so I am glad my new rod is working so well! This fish was even bigger than my first fish and my first fish was my previous personal best!

My first bass of the day.

Say hello to my new personal best LMB!

I also fish with swimbait101 for a while. He wanted me to take this picture of him leaving, lol.

Thanks! I did set and break my personal best in the same day. It was pretty awesome. I can't wait to break it again this weekend!

Lol, I like catching fish when you leave! I didn't post my brother's picture because he wasn't in them, since he didn't want to hold his fish, even though he held his first bass on Sunday! I don't know why he didn't want to hold them.

Nice. I might take my float tube out this weekend and fish the West side. Is it good over there? A smallmouth in the Lagoon? Nice!

Thanks! I hope to see you at the Lagoon. I went today, but it was really windy. I didn't catch anything, but my friend managed to catch the only bass of the day.
I will probably take my float tube out next week since I finally bought some fins!

Yeah the Lagoon can be real tough if it's windy. Especially when it comes zippin' down across the lake from the NW over the dam. I have literally been "blown over" a few times when it got over 40 MPH.

I will be out there on the south end for most of the day on Wednesday this week if it's not too windy that is. I'm not hard to find, always wear camo, gloves, and boots.

Later...........

Isn't that the point of wearing Camo?

For some maybe, for me camo is a state of mind.

But you might be right cause I was at the Lagoon yesterday in my usual outfit and nobody came over to say hello.... probably couldn't see me.

How was it yesterday? I went to pick my boat up at a repair shop, but I decided not to go fishing, because it was way too windy. Catch any fish?

It was real tough Fire Ball. I was going to make a short post since it was my return to fishing after four months out with the bum ankle but since I did so poorly I decided to skip it.

Water was 58, air temp was 60. Wind was pretty strong from the north between 20 and gusting to 35 when I split. No bites but it was really good to get out there again.

Water level was at lowest I've seen it in six years. Bouy line was high and dry at the south end and you could walk all the way across on the exposed rocks. Which I did halfway.

I got zeroed.

The water level is pretty sad. I think it is time to start fishing slower since it is getting colder. I went to the upper lake with my boat on Saturday, but it was closed because of the high winds.
I was going to go to the lower lake today from shore, but ended up going to Oxnard and did a little dock fishing in Channel Islands Harbor. I wanted to avoid the Castaic winds.

Yeah the cold does slow things down. I think at this time of the year your chances are better in the late afternoon to dusk.

Funny thing is there was almost no wind when I left my house in Mission Hills. When I got to the lake there was a pretty stiff breeze when I parked my car at the fire station.

I knew what I was in for but what the heck.....I was already there!!!
