I am thinking about buying a Shimano Scorpion reel, model number 1000, from my friend in Japan. I have read the reviews and have seen it been compaired to its american version the Curado. My friend says it will be about 150 bucks for the reel and shipping. This does not seem like a bad price if it is a good reel. Whats the opinion?

Dave, I use the Shimano Chronarc and have had to replace it in one year do mostly in part to my abuse, it is a really smooth reel that has that"already been broken in feel" I would suggest buying either the Chronarc or the Curado with super Free spool. For spinning reels check out the Diawa Capricorn series they are incredible. Good Bassin Dan Bass

Dave,

Yes this is a good buy on the Scorpion reel. They are getting easier to find now, and the prices are getting cheaper. I myself have 2 of them, and they are truely sooped up! Im sure you will enjoy them
