I was wondering I am about to buy a baitcaster with it being my first what are the advantages and disadvantages with it over other reels. And if i throw a lure into the pool and practice like that will the chlorine of the pool affect the lure in any way.

On3, Casting into a pool is not only a good way to practice casting, but you will also be able to see how each lure works underwater. No, the clorine won't affect the lures action. Some baits work better in cold water and some in warm, that takes some experimenting to decipher.
Baitcasting combos have much more strength than other rods and reels, are usually much faster when retrieved and after some practice are even more accurate. ;\) Baitcasting units will handle heavier and larger baits than spinning or spincast equipment. \:\)

You can go up to a 6:2:1 gear ratio or even a 7:0:1, to reel in faster with spinnerbaits or for flipping. Also you get a better hook set with baitcasters and having everything at your finger tips is a lot quicker. They only problem is they are hard to skip far back under docks and they do not cast good into the wind.
