You can also try fishing a suspending jerkbait like a Rapala Husky Jerk
http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=husky_jerk&freshorsalt=Fresh The lure will catch any species of bass and you can even connect with some of the bigger trout that are in the lake.
It is an easy lure to present. Cast it out on 8 or 10 pound test line, give it a couple of quick rips with your rod in a downward position and then pause and let the lure sit still for a few seconds. The colder the water, the longer you want to let the bait sit still. Don't be afraid to leave the lure sitting for as long as 20 seconds, you'll be amazed how long you can leave it sit their before you get a strike. Pay attention to how long you are pausing between rips and let the fish tell you what there mood is.
For size and color, try to find out what type(s) of bait fish are in the ecosystem, and then choose a size and color that will best mimic that species of bait.
Good luck!
