I just went and bought a rhino baitcaster combo with 6 foot medium action rod(which i will get a 7 foot rod when i can cause that is what i wanted just not the money for it) and im goin fishing in a lake mianly for trout, lake mcswain if you've heard of it but they say there are black bass in the warmer coves so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas what to throw at em. thanks for the help..

I'm assuming since the lake holds trout and you talked about bass being in warmer coves that the lake is cold water. I would try slow moving-bottom hugging baits such as a jig and pig, unweighted soft jerk baits and slow rolling spinnerbaits along or near the bottom. Hope you catch a few- Johnnie

The lure will catch any species of bass and you can even connect with some of the bigger trout that are in the lake.

It is an easy lure to present. Cast it out on 8 or 10 pound test line, give it a couple of quick rips with your rod in a downward position and then pause and let the lure sit still for a few seconds. The colder the water, the longer you want to let the bait sit still. Don't be afraid to leave the lure sitting for as long as 20 seconds, you'll be amazed how long you can leave it sit their before you get a strike. Pay attention to how long you are pausing between rips and let the fish tell you what there mood is.

For size and color, try to find out what type(s) of bait fish are in the ecosystem, and then choose a size and color that will best mimic that species of bait.

Yea this lake is up in the mountains so it is a cold water lake that is planted with trout every week. there is also catfish in there i think people say but i have never seen any.
