Hey all,got a question on bait casting reels. It has been awhile since I used mine, and the reel has to be ajusted. How do I ajust the drag.On my reel,I want to throw 1/4 lures. I have heard, that if the line is slowly falling from the reel, then the drag would be set.Is that true? Any advice is greatfull. Bassman

I dont think the drag is what you are wanting to adjust.

The casting knob on the side of the reel is what controls the rate of fall of the lure. If you hold the rod out strait and hit the cast button to release the spool your lure should drop to the ground and the spool stop rotating. This will give you the best casting without over-runs or birdnest of the line. The drag adjustment is for fighting the fish not casting.

The little knob I'm talking about should be the little knob under the star drag and reel handle.

Conley is dead on as usual. Use the bait you use most often when setting the spool control. But, you will have to make minor adjustments for different weight baits and wind, but at least you'll be close. Good luck, Johnnie ;\) \:\) ;\) \:\)
