Hello,
I just bought this reel and comboed it with a 7 med. action St. Croix rod and was just looking for opinions of those who used theses reels on line choice and overall performace of this reel. I plan on using it for a wide variety of bass fishing from crankbaits to spinnerbaits and topwater.
Thank you, Gary

The Energy PTI is one of the nicest spinning reels on the market.

If you play around with it, you will notice its nickle/titanium bail wire that is virtually indestructible.
This memory wire will eliminate any unwanted stress from your moving bail and give you killer performance for much longer than normal reels.

The next thing you will find is the magnetic bail itself. No more weaken'd bail springs, no more replacing bail springs cause theres no spring in there. This bail is guaranteed for life. Never fail.

Most importantly, you will find under the spool a double roller bearing system wich prevents the drag washers and spool from binding on the shaft. This not only prevents binding, but gives you an unparalelled smoothness on your drag.

The hardened brass gears will be around to pull fish to the boat for years to come, and the ceramet drag washers are not made of metal, they wont rust, wont expand with heat, wont corrode, or expirience any of the problems steel drags have.

Its a heck of a piece of equipment. But, what do you expect at that price?

Anyways, the line I would recomend on that reel is a co-polymer line. P-Line flouroclear. Nylon mono base, flourocarbon coated.

You will get the knot strength of the mono, the light refraction of the flourocarbon, the perfect ammount of line stretch, and lack of memory.

The 40 size is a bit larger than what I like for balance purposes, but as long as you can get a good feel out of the set up, congrats, its sounds like a nice combo.
