Even though the weather has been stable and warmer for this time of year, the fishing hasn't been all that great. (At least not down on the Island). The lakes are all WAY DOWN... Some are down several feet... We need Rain and lots of it!

Time to moderate? I told Brendan I only caught 3 fish today, but one was a keeper bass. Boy, was he cold! I think we need to start with a good laugh. Anybody got some good PWC stories or Launch Escapades? JoeM

Hello Tim! (AKA - SMbass) ST. Johns... Tidal, tuff, you should have a nice tourney... Hey, man, seriously, go kick some butt! You'll be way up there in the B.A.S.S. points if you do well there... and "well" is probably 8lbs a day from what I was reading today on the net....

For those that want some good fishing in NY right now,the Hudson River is real hot. The bass (SMB & LMB) started migrating into the creeks just last week to winter. The fishing should be great there for the next 2-3weeks

Sorry for the short absence, i had to go eat my birthday cake.
Brenden--if you want smallies at the Hudson, go in Catskill creek, there's a deep 35' hole by the rock bluff, always a good spot. Roundout also is a big wintering creek for both SMB and LMB, fish the drop offs with tubes, and crankbaits.
ED--refresh the page to see the current posts

For the guys with smaller boats, the Hudson is good for you too right now. Catskill creek is right next to Dutchmans Landing Launch Ramp. If the weather gets snotty, you can make it back to the launch ramp and safety with little ease. Catskill creek will produce numbers (50plus bass per angler), up to 4lbs in a day of fishing this time of year.

Yes, the Connecticut River pics, another one of my favorite fishing holes. My new motto is "as long as it's tidal, its worth fishing"

Tim... it's really sad to hear you speak such words... I've always felt that as long as there is water in it, "IT'S WORTH FISHING"

Irwin Jacobs, purchased Operation bass (along with Ranger Boats), a few years back, and has totally ruined both companies with his dictatorship. He's nothing but a multi millionaire (owned some football team once) who is ruining the sport of fishing. The only good thing he did, was bring out of the industry sponsor into the sport. With ESPN buying BASS, FLW will no longer be broadcasted. Now you can only see FLW on PAX TV, which I do not even think we get in NY. Irwin Jacobs got what he deserved. I can go on for ever on this subject, like how he banned the 1999 Redman All American winner from fishing any Operation bass tourny, because the guy wore a Duke University hat during the tournament, violating the "logo rule".

Yeah, what was that all about... The Guy wins the tourney and then because he didn't want o take his hat of (Hat Hair) on stage, they gave him the shaft... Wasn't it a college football logo or something stupid like that?
Oh, yeah... Happy B-Day older timer! What are you now 17 or 18?

Ray nailed it on the head. Rick Clunn one 3 FLW tourney in one year. He was never on the cover, and never recieved much press, because he refused to wear the shirts OB provided him with the Trail sponsors logos. None of those companies sponsor Clunn, so he could not wear them with the existing contract he has with those companies, so he wore a regular, logo-less T Shirt. He couldnt even wear a Polo shirt, because that has a logo on it. It got so bad Irwin Jacobs is thinking of banning Clunn! That is why you see very little Top Pros (from BASS) fising FLW. The only reason guys like CLUnn and Van Damn are doing so, is because they are kicking everyones ass, and winning a ton of money. Look at the guys who compete in FLW. 90% of them you have never heard of.

Heres something funny. Brenden and I fished the CT River a few years back for the first time. I told him about this great hole i found in the back of a flat. Tourny day, i ran full speed across the flat (not realizing the tide was so low) and bottomed out the boat. Brenden came up with the great idea of throwing the anchor off the bow, and try pulling the boat across the flat. Only problem was the silt bottom. The anchor made a nice mark in the silt, but never moved the boat. We sat there stuck for the next 4 hours. Wasnt funny at the time, but its a riot now

Funniest time for me had to be during a Wednesday night tourney at Swan Lake. Steve and I thought we were filling the livewell with the pump, but we didn't know that the livewell plug was not in. We kept fishing until we felt our feet getting wet!

Did you ever see those funny-looking rock anchors they use up in Lake Ontario, specifically in the Black River. They look like they were designed as a joke. But they work when there is only one small crevice in the rock bottom and you don't wamt to go out to the big lake. None of us had them, so we would anchor over here and 400 ft later the boat would slow down. JoeM

OH, that was the worst day of our tournament lives!!! Here's part II of that story... Tim says that "At least we are blocking the entrance to the hole, so when the tide comes in, we'll be the first guys in there".
It was like 98 degrees out that day and we are now sitting almost completely out of water in Tim Skeeter... We decided to play a game of "Bass Boat baseball". We used a crumpled up cigarette pack as the ball and TIm's 3' oar as the bat. We chose specific areas on the boat for a single, double, triple and home run and even what was considered an out.
Once the tide started coming in, we started getting our heads back into the game hoping that we could get a limit before the tourney ended. Here's the best part... Just when we are about to start to float from the rising water, this Javalin comes race right at us at full speed... The guy was running full throttle- wide open through 6" of water. me and Tim are saying there is no way this guy is going to get around us... he's going to get stuck, but he didn't...
He walked his boat accross that water at about 70 MPH and glided right into the hole in back and we were still stuck in the mudd when he caught his first fish right in frint of us. We had to sit there and watch this guy limit out in about 15 minutes. At that point I thought Tim was going to snap and start shooting the flare gun at him...
Boy was he pissed and so was I... At the time, it really sucked, but now, you're right Tim... It is funny!!!
Nice job driving Buddy!!!
"Yeah, don't worry Brendan, I know how to get in here" LOL
We sucked wind that day... Hey, but that's all part of learning...

Hey Pete...
If you get the chance, ask my Cousin Joey to tell about the time I pulled a full-gainer of the front of my bass boat after hitting an old fence post at forge...
That's a story that he loves telling... There something about me falling out of the boat that just cracks people up!

I was fishing a tourney at Forge during my first year in L.I.B...I had crazy glued the tilt button on my trolling motor because it kept falling off. I didnt realize until I put the boat in the water that day that the glue had run down the shaft and cemented my motor into a permanent "tilt" position! I was forced to hand the motor off the side of the boat all day and move the boat sideways! LOL
