Just to keep you guys informed:

Joey changed the message boards setting so that the most recent post will appear at the top of the first page. (Now you won't have to jump back to where you left off when the thread moves onto multiple pages.)

I have been getting requests to change this setting. Let me know if it works better for you all?

That's usually the best way to get on fish down there... (Using a guide). I believe those fish will be moving into a early pre-spawn stage by the time you get down there. I have heard that isolated bull rush patches with good weeds are always a good area to try.

Joe Mo, you have any feed back on the Big "O"?

If Bassin Pete doesn't mind, we could get back to him via e-mail after contacting John A. John has fished "O" about 10 days just in tournaments over the past 2-3 months and has placed well and caught big ones, also.

Hi fellas. I finally got my computer turned on, and its staying on till I get it fixed. Its been tourture not to go online for 5 days.

bassinpete. When I was in florida the beginning of the month, all the locals said the big O was on file with lots of big bass feeding in preparation for the spawn. Some will probably still be feeding and others will be spawning.

Hey Joe,

Have you ever fished a "Sammy"? I have been hearing a lot of goods things about these baits... I was putting in my Prostaff order with Yozuri, and they have a bait called the "Banana Boat". It looks just like a Sammy... Just wondering if you knew any history behind the "Sammy" and if this could be from the same japanese manufacturer?

Brendan- Do Wildwood. Hairjigs like those from Valley Angler will catch 'em. And most times after the weather cools, the constables are busy on the bay.

The "sammy" is from Lucky Craft, not the same manufacturer as the Yozuri bait, but the are both very similiar

Tim, I am going to have to put the two baits side by side... They look identical from what I remember of the Sammy... Frank had also mentioned a while back that he thought that both companies might be using the same Japanese molding company for the baits...

I'm sure Danny fished a Sammy when I've been with him. Great action. (Easy to WTD)
I don't know if Yo-Zuri is in the same building as Lucky-Craft. I'll bet price is different, though.

Pete... You must be a South Hampton resident to fish wildwood... Unless you are out fishing with a south Hampton Guide, on their boat...

The Prez of my former Club in CT used a BPS Extreme Z-Dog Jr in my lake last summer. He caught bass at will walking the dog.

The bait performed extremely well. When I get an order together, it will include one of those.

At $4.99, that's equivalent to 3 Sammys.

I'll tell you what... When I first got into bass fishing, all I did was fish top water baits... Now I hardly ever use them... It's kind of ironic that we are discussing this topic, because I made a commitment to myself to get back into using top waters as search baits next season...

All the old bass catchers used to urge anglers to use top-water baits for big fish. Especially the Zara Spook. (Other big bass baits then were the Jig, Spinnerbait and buzzbait) Of the 4 of them, 2 were top-waters.
Some of these guys were Jason Lucas, Homer Circle (Still going at what? 83?) and Al from Field and Stream. (His last name escapes me)

Yes, that's the one, Brendan.
Ray, that Chug Bug is good, because it has the best features of a Zara as well as that of the Pop-R. Great bait.
As we all know, we will own whatever it takes to catch bass consistently.

Also by the way, there is a new book just out by Ken Penrod of Potomac River fame. It's called "Pursuing River Smallmouth". The book can be obtained by sending $25. to PPC Publications, Ouchigon, 4708 Sellman Road,
Beltsville, MD 20705
No, I'm not related to Mr. Penrod, but I have read some of his articles. Very knowledgeable angler and guide. Also, I will receive no reward if you buy it. Just remember you read it here first.

BC- First off, ask Tim if he knows or knows of the guy. Also ask C.S. or Danny.
Everything I read by him was good in-depth material.
Again, I haven't read it yet. I'm immersed in the autobiography of Norman Schwarzkopf at the present. But, knowing my tendencies, I'll probably buy it.
It's great to be retired!

I hear ya Joe... I'll have to check it out. (Buy it)... I think I'm going to call it an early night too. With the holidays drawing near, I think most of the guys are out last minute shopping or at the company christmas party (which I skipped this year)... The boards remain open for those of you who show up later.

Happy Holidays Everyone...

Ray- You still out there? We need some input here. I guess Brendan is right; most of the guys are out buying Christmas presents.

Next week you can all tell us what presents you got for the Holiday. I know I'll get something bass-related, but it will not be lures or rods or reels.

Then you can tell us how you are going to slay them come next season, unless you are lucky like Mofish from the Lone Star State.
He can slay them tomorrow, I guess.

I'm hanging in here. Keep talking; we're listening.

Just reading the Jan. 2002 issue of In-Fisherman.

Two good bass articles:
(a) The Biggest Smallmouths of All Time by
Matt Straw
(b) Color Scheming- Spinnerbaits for Largemouth Bass by Steve Quinn and Kevin Van Dam.

I would suggest you pick up a copy for those cold days in Jan, Feb., Mar. when you don't know what else to do. I bought mine at Barnes and Noble. (What? Another commercial?)

Angler1- Good to hear from you. If you get a chance you can look back on both pages and see what we chatted about.
You could check it tomorrow or later. It will be on here.

I'll be here until 10:15. If someone comes up with good conversation, we'll be on longer.
Let's hear it, guys.

Well I guess this is about it. I'm getting ready to close the doors here at the dock. I see all of the bassboats are tethered with care and everyone is settled in front of the tube watching hockey or CNN or MSNBC.

Goodnight Osama wherever you are. Our Marines won't let you get a good night's sleep. Just give up.
