Joe Mo,
Can't really call this a launch story, but years ago in my very first bass tournament my partner and I had a ten foot flat bottom boat with a three horespower outboard. This rig, coffee jugs and tackle were all carried to the tournament in the back of my 1954 Ford pickup. The access to the river we were to fish was very steep and loose gravel. I tried to ease over the levee, but spun out and got stuck twice. The third time, I got a run at it about forty miles an hour, near the top we hit a chug hole and through all the glass coffee thermos out, which of course broke. Broke two rods, the trolling motot battery busted, our lunch spilled onto the ground, out tackle was strewn all over the roadway. Some of the bass clubbers came running over the levee to see what had happened. With their help we hand carried everything off the road and over the levee to the take off site, a backwater of the Mississippi river. We even had to use the trucks battery for the trolling motor. Wish I could say we went on to win the event, but we never even got a bite. Still, it helped cultivate the love of my life, competitive bass angling. I have a little better equipment now, but still get skunked once in awhile.
