Cody,
I'm not sure if you mean all species, or just bass.

In bass it is a 10 pound largemouth caught on Lake Windish, although I caught a catch and release World Record, which was also said to be the Lake George record, that was published in the paper to weigh 10 pounds, 22 ounces - figure that one out. I don't really know for sure since it was calculated by some unknown person for a press release.

Both of those fish were caught on crankbaits (Poe's 400 and Norman Little N, respectively). That should make Johnnie Crain happy. \:\)

For other species I have a 15 pound freshwater drum, and 36" channel catfish (still is the record for 14 pound line).

Hope that answers the question.

Best of fishing,
Dan

Dan,
How long was the big bass out of lake george? What was the actual weight of the fish or did you just measure it?

I read the paper with the 10lb 22oz thing in it, so I was wondering what the real weight was.

A few weeks ago I got one out there that was 8 pounds 11 ounces. Caught it on a spinnerbait coated in MegaStrike attractant.

I still believe that the state record is out there at that lake and I am on a mission to catch him. Of course the fishing and recreational pressure is a lot different now than it was 10 years ago when you got that other hog. Regardless, I will be out there plugging away every chance I get.

JT,
I think the fish measured around 26 inches, but it was not weighed. Murray Hurt reported the weight, so I'm not sure from where it came.

As for the fishing pressure at that time, it was fairly heavy. In fact, there was a tournament one day before. They used to hold tournaments on that lake, but I haven't heard of any for quite some time.

Funny thing about the area where I caught that fish, it was hit by 3 boats before I came along. After I caught that one, my partner caught one that would have probably hit 5, and then I got a 3 or 4. Some of those old spots have now rotted, and fallen apart, or are so full of broken off fishing line that they are nightmares.

One of the big problems with Lake George now is the silt. It is much worse, and wasn't great then.

There are some very big walleye in the lake as well, but the state record bass should be there somewhere. Probably down by the old bridge in the middle of the lake - at least if she is smart.

Dan

Dan,

You are right about the silt out there, it is horrible.

There have been a couple tournaments out there in the last 2 months but I am not certain on the exact turnout or weights for them. I know one was won with just under 10 pounds.

A friend of mine caught a decent walleye out there last week that went 7 pounds 12 ounces. It was the biggest fish of his life so he was pretty excited about it.

I pretty much refuse to fish out there on weekends because there is always about 20 boats on the public side and another 20-30 from the rental side. (for those reading this that aren't familiar with the lake, it is only about 167 acres so 50 boats is a lot).

Anyway, Have a great one and I am sorry for using this thread as a personal message board.

A week ago today I caught a 5# bass. That's the biggest bass I caught. I caught it on a black jig n pig at about daybreak. Too bad I wasn't in a tournament.

Mine was an eight pound, two ounce bass taken on a Poe's 300 crankbait, the next day I took an eight even on the same bait, 30 yards away from the 8-2. Then a 7-4 on a Wiggle Wart. I fish way too fast for really big fish, it's been bred into me. Only Dan could catch a 10# 22 ounce bass. I'm sure it was a typo it should have said 182 ounce bass. ;\)

My personal tournament best was a 7 lb, 11 oz Largemouth that was caught only a few short weeks ago. Fish was taken on a Jig-N-Pig.

I have had bigger fish on a digital scale, but nothing that was weighed on a certified scale.

My personal best LM is 6.54 Lbs from Mozingo in Missouri on a Chart. buzzbait with a Chart. blade. However I have caught a 40 plus pound King Salmon and a 67 pound Halibut in Alaska (I don't believe in eating bass, but the other two sure tasted good)! Had a Halibut on the boat the same day caught by another guy that was 137 pounds!
