Texas has a program that runs between Nov.1 to the end of April where anglers who catch a largemouth over 13lbs can donate it to the state for the purpose of research and spawning. the fish is then retured to the lake in which it was caught for release. The state will drive to where ever the lake is a pick up the fish. Each angler recieves a replica of the fish.There has been 4 donated as of 1/30/07
1st. Eddie Horn caught a 13.79lb largemouth from Lake Fork. He was fishing a black Zoom lizard in 14ft. of water. fish measured 26in. long and had a girth of 20.5.
2nd. Seven year old Parker Chambers became the youngest person to ever donate a fish. On christmas day with his new rod a reel from Santa caught a 13.04 lb. largemouth on a Rapalla X-rap. The lake fork fish measured 24.75in long and had a girth of 20.50.
3rd. Jaret Latta of Macodoches caught a 13.31lb. largemouth from Lake Nacodoches. Caught it on a 1oz. jig in 20ft. of water. measured 27in. long and had a girth of 20.
4th. Richard Choate caught a 13.20lb. largemouth from Lake Cisco near Dallas. No measurements where announced but he caught it in 3ft. of water while flipping boat docks. was using a crawfish soft plastic.
