hi guys does anybody do this , (did not do a forum search sorry)whilst using a spinning outfit you find a school of fish say for example aroud trees or structure . While watching the sounder you drop down a jighead (seeing it on the screen ) untill you get into the target zone. retrieve the jig in a motion pertaining to that plastic then when you get out of the zone instead of flicking over the bail arm you back wind the jig head down to the zone again. our fish most commonly hit on the drop and if you are free falling you can miss them.(is this sounding familiar to anyone).what you get is a positive strike with control etc still on your side. Some count the winds as well.I wind left hand as well(but am rhd)
if you need more i will provide , does this make sense.BOTH FISH ON MY PHOTO WERE CAUGHT USING THIS TECHNIQUE.
GREAT FISHING.IAN

Ian, I guess I've never tried that but can see how it would work. I'll give it a shot next time I'm suspended over some fish. Makes since to me. Thanks, Johnnie.

All the subtle secrets come to the surface around here.

Ian, that is a great technique and you are right about missing strike on the fall when vertical jigging... did you ever get the feeling that you were the "only" or "first" person who tried something? Then someone posts something like this and reality sets in!

It takes some getting used to and I have found that the speed at which you back reel can dramatically impact the number of strikes you get.

Great post, nice pictures too!

Never really thought about that but it makes sence to me. The only problem I would have is I have got so used to just setting the hook that I'm afraid I would forget the reel stop is not "on" and I would end up with a big mess on my hands! I'll try it next time too!
