Got up to the Lagoon at around noon.

Water temp was 62, ait temp 70. Mild breeze between 6 and 10 coming from the SSW. Partly cloudy mixed with patches of bright sun.

Barometer had been holding steady around 30 for the past couple of days but had begun to drop slightly to around 29.50 just before I left for the lake.

Water clarity was pretty good, not the scary gin clear since I was on the north end of the lake today and the south wind was kicking up some gentle wave action at the shorline.

Fished a lot of different stuff today. Swimbaits, Senko, Ika and various plastics dropshot, splitshot, c-rigged etc.

Water level was pretty high and in most spots I was backed up into some narrow slots in the bushes with trees overhead so the casting was a little difficult.

One of my buds lost a $40 BBZ swimbait in the top of a tree when it was taken slightly off course by the breeze.

It was stuck so bad we couldn't get it out. Pulling and shakin, the dang 20 lb. P-line it was rigged on finally broke. It was stuck that bad, and too high and far out to climb up and get it.

Got one tap on the Ika but not a solid bite.

After not getting any bites on my bigger stuff I finally ratcheted it down to my smaller 3" plastics and started getting bit on the watermellon Zoom Tiny Fluke.

I was also going to the 4" Bonzai Cinnamon Neon Core which usually gets bit pretty good when it's sunny but no dice on that today.

I was going with the kamikaze rig 5 lb. Maxima flourocarbon line, #8 Owner mosqito hooks and 5/32 mojo weights krimped about ten inches below on the tagline. 7' medium action dropshot rod with Daiwa Sol 2500 reel.

Some guys I've talked to at Castaic are now fishing this same setup on 3 and even 2 lb. line when the bite is tough, we are talkin ultra light kamikaze for the dropshot in open water. The lightest I have tried this myself so far is 4 lb.

Was able to get a few small ones with the light setup on the dropshot, my best today was a solid two pounder. Packed it in at around 5:30.

Besides the lost BBZ lure and losing rigs in the bushes and stuff I had a wonderful time fishing today. It was a lot of fun just to be out there at the waters edge catching some nice bass.

Good fishing to you guys, later........... geobass

All fish were released after pics were taken.

Great job Geo. I am heading out tonight for three days. I was supposed to hook up in a tournament but it did not work out. All good, I am taking my small boat and enjoying three days of fishing on a great lake in CT. Hopefully catching lots of smallies. Should come back with plenty of pics to share. All the bass here are headed for the beds. Looking forward to it. Tight lines.
